Testing Forex Robot Trader… Where The Rubber Hits The Road - Days Nine Ten and Eleven
8-18-08
Greeting Friends,
Last week end I decide to try a new strategy I transfered my trading data to an excel spread sheet where I seperated the weeks earliest and fastest moving currency pairs.
I set up a Forex Robot Trader # (3) to trade a group of Asian and European currencies with the hopes of shutting it down after Mondays flurry of trading activity with hopes of repeating trading results from the last several Mondays-Tuesday with Robots # 1 and Robot # 2.
The whole idea behind the concept was to shut it down after a days worth of trading, take profits and repeat the same scenario Every Monday or Tuesday.
Robot 1+2 early week trading results.
Robot # 1 $513.16 in closed positions with open positions were around -$192.10 Bottom line profits +$321.06 …Started this Robot on a Tuesday
Robot # 2 made +$235.25 in closed trades and -$11.68 with one open position . Bottom line profits +223.57 Started this Robot on a Monday.
Hypothetically speaking If I would have closed trading with Robots 1+2 after I day of trading I would be up +$544.63 and that amount was made with just two days of trading.
The goal of my new test runs are to discover ways trade with this bot that make it even more simple and stress free than it is already. Anyhow I am having a blast trying different things with this easy to use software.
My latest Robot trading results.
My results with the new pairs I had chosen was disappointing by the end of Monday I was up $85.15 in closed trades and down -$200.00+ in open trades.
I was not concerned that the software was not able to close the open trades it had entered in to.
I am not quite sure why the currency pairs I had chosen as early movers performed poorly as a group in short term trading. But I can always go back and do another test run.
For Robot 3 its back to the drawing board… I am simply going to set up a robot for Monday or Tuesday trading with some of the original better performing currency pairs.
Where are Robots 1-2-3-4 at today? All Robots Starting with a Balance of $3,000.00 around 10:00am
Robot 1 Balance +$5328.00… Equity +$2908.00… Open Trades -$2417.00 Set up with with Dons out of the box settings …keep in mind this robot has two nasty open trades the eur/jpy and eur/gbp that should have closed out but my internet connection went out -478.61 + -$150.00 which would bring the equity position to around +$3536.61 Since the power outage the Bot has gone on to close out +$285.02 in positive trades on the eur/jpy. (I am continuing to test this Bot with a huge handicap just to see what it will do)
Robot 2 Balance +$4568.44…Equity $3168.88…Open Trades -$1399.61 This 2nd Robot is set up with the most most active currencies I could find so far its out preforming the other three robots with a positive equity lead. Just checked again the Equity is up to +$3413.77 check again 8:14 pm +$3522.44

Robot 3 Balance +$3359.99… Equity +$2407.00 … Open Trades -$960.50 this is the robot I was hoping to close Monday after 1 day early week trading. I just decided to shut it down and try another set of currencies next Monday or Tuesday.
Lessons learned …This software does have the ability to open and close trades some trades are long term trades some are short term.

I have not seen the software lose a trade except with a DSL failure. See b
Money management is crucial. And so is learning about the software…
I am also going to start experimenting with the hedging functions.
